Located in Languedoc-Roussillon, Domaine La Pèira en Damaisèla only began its adventure in 2004. We find this superb property in the heart of the wild landscapes of the Terrasses du Larzac. First planted by the Romans, these beautiful vineyards share the land with the Roquefort sheeps and the wild wildness of the garrigue. The 'estate' consists of a stone barn, situated halfway between the two large properties of the Grange des Pères and the Mas de Daumas Gassac. The highly respected consultant oenologist Claude Gros has really found gold there. His secret is quite simple and focuses on traditional winemaking with indigenous grape varieties (Carignan and Cinsault before Grenache in the region). The estate covers 11.6 hectares on a terroir of old stones and alluvium.
Precision and high standards qualify the work of the vine on the estate. Yields are low with only 10 hectolitres per hectare. The double sorting carried out plays a great role in the high quality of the wine, whatever the vintage. The style of the wines of Domaine La Pèira en Damaisèla is powerful and elegant, rich and perfectly balanced.
Each wine in the versatile Pèira range is a must, from the masterly complexity of the white, Deusyls, to the three reds that pretty much cover the spectrum of expectations for a great red wine; Les Obriers is fruity and dense, Les Flors is rich but beautifully complex. La Pèira en Damaisela is an excellent wine for laying down, worthy of a great cellar.
"One of the leading producers in the Languedoc, and in my opinion one of the greatest estates in all of France, La Pèira en Damaisèla was founded in 2004 by Australian composer Rob Dougan." JEB DUNNUCK
