Las Flors de La Peira 2ème 2019
Vin de France
- What is the "2nd" vintage of Las Flors?
The 2019 vintage of Las Flors wine was simply bottled outside the AOC Terrasses du Larzac. Found in the Vin de France appellation, Las Flors 2019 is a wine more dominated by Grenache compared to the La Peira vintage, which is richer in Syrah.
Grape variety: 55% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre, 5% Syrah, 25% Carignan, 5% Cinsault
Terroir: Clay soils with stony deposits and a subsoil of alluvium
Viticulture : Reasoned, mechanical maintenance of the soil, disbudding on all the parcels
Harvest : Manual harvest in 10 kg crates, year 2019
Vinification : Total de-stemming, fermentation at low temperature 24°C in thermo-regulated stainless steel tanks, natural yeasts. Pumping over at the beginning of fermentation followed by punching down and a two-week post-fermentation vatting period.
Maturation : 18 months in barrels of 2 to 5 wines blended with 40% of wines in vats
Alcohol content : 14,5%.
- But what is a classic second wine?
The estate tells you: "For us, it is a wine made with all the care and attention of a great estate wine, but which is surprisingly supple, accessible, balanced and elegant from its earliest age. A great second wine is like a time machine. We can see tonight what great wine will look like in a decade or two. To mark this new era of Las Flors, the 2019 vintage is simply titled: 2ND.
