Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, owned by Aubert de Villaine and Henry-Frédéric Roch, co-heirs, is a 25.5 hectare wine estate. It is mainly located in Vosne-Romanée on the Route des Grands Crus. It is found in the vineyards of the Côte de Nuits. Domaine de la Romanée-Conti produces one of the most prestigious wines in the world, with 11,000 bottles on 3.5 hectares of vines.
The higher clay content of the soil gives the wine a fatter and rounder character than that of its neighbours. Although more expressive from their youth than the other wines of the estate, the Romanée-Conti "Richebourg" wines are well worth waiting for.
Romanée-Conti grand cru: a fabulous alchemy produces this wine which, with Petrus and Yquem in Bordeaux, is one of the greatest wines in the world. Originally is the terroir to which the savoir-faire of the man is combined. However, the high standards that have always governed its vinification have had rare slip-ups. Entirely uprooted, the vineyard was replanted in 1947 and did not start producing again until 1952.
