Château Larcis Ducasse 1975
Saint-Emilion - 1er Grand Cru Classé B
- Cellaring: Drink now or collect. Wine at maturity.
- Tasting : Dark brick red colour. Subtle aromas of plums, berries and tobacco, with a hint of minerality. Silky tannins and an aftertaste of berries and iodine.
- Larcis Ducasse's 11.3 hectare vineyard is planted to 83% Merlot and 17% Cabernet Franc. This shows a slight change in the vineyard, as more Cabernet Franc has been added to the plantings since 2003. The vineyard is located just around the bend in the road from Château Pavie. In fact, their vineyards are adjacent to each other. They also have other good neighbours. To the south you will find Chateau Canon La Gaffeliere and La Gaffeliere, and going north, Chateau Troplong Mondot, Chateau Pavie Macquin is not far.
- The terroir of Château Larcis Ducasse is a mixture of soils. The vines located on the top of the plateau and on the slopes are exposed to the south. On the heights of the plateau, which rises to 86 metres, the terroir is made up of limestone, clay and chalk soils. As you descend the slopes towards the terraces, the terroir is a mixture of chalky limestone, marl, sand, silt and clay soil. At the foot of the slopes, there are sand and clay soils. The average age of the vines is 35 years.
