What are the specificities of Château Larrivet Haut-Brion?
The Château Larrivet Haut Brion was founded under the original name of La Rivette in the 1800s. In 1874, the estate became known as Château Haut Brion Larrivet by the new owner, Ernest Laurent, to the great consternation of Château Haut-Brion. Although it took decades before a formal lawsuit was filed to remedy the situation, Thomas Conseil changed the name of the château in 1949. From then on, the wines were sold under the name of Larrivet Haut-Brion, at that time the property was much larger than it is today.
The Château Larrivet Haut Brion is a very appreciated wine and nowadays, without any risk of being mistaken, we can affirm that their wines are probably the best known of the unclassified cellars of the appellation.
Today, the Château Larrivet Haut Brion belongs to the Gervoson family who took over the property in 1987. The Gervoson family is best known for the production of the Bonne Maman range of jams and jellies.

The vineyard is also planted to produce white Bordeaux grapes, 11 hectares are planted with 60% Sauvignon Blanc and 40% Semillon.
The terroir of
After vinification in stainless steel vats, the wine is aged in a combination of 70% new French oak barrels and 24 large clay amphorae for 15 to 18 months before bottling.
The property also produces a second wine, Les Demoiselles de Larrivet Haut Brion, named after their three daughters.
