2009 Chateau Lascombes
Grand cru classé de Margaux
The 2009, which is blue/purple to the rim, is a final blend of 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 48% Merlot, and 4% Petit Verdot at 14% natural alcohol. The wine has a beautifully perfumed nose of blueberries with hints of acacia flowers, licorice, graphite, and subtle nuances of charcoal and oak. This is clearly a modern Margaux style that is pure, seamless, full-bodied, and opulent, and the high glycerin, silky texture of the 2009 is brilliantly illustrated in this wine.
Drink it over the next 15 years, though it is certainly capable of lasting well for the past two decades.
