RATING: 100/100 Parker - 100/100 James Suckling
Aging potential : 2024 - 2080
Tasted by Lisa Perrotti-Brown on March 5, 2020: "Deep garnet in color, it bursts from the glass with powerful scents of creme de cassis, Black Forest, and blackberry pie, as well as intense sparks of dried roses, cigar boxes, fragrant earth, and smoked meats, with hints of anise and crushed rocks. On the palate, it's full-bodied, concentrated, with a firm, grainy texture and a lovely freshness that carries the rich, opulent fruit through to an epically long finish. It's incredibly tempting to drink it now, but I suspect that this hedonistic experience is only a tiny fraction of the breathtaking, otherworldly secrets this time capsule will have to reveal after 7-10 years in bottle and over the next 50 years."
TERROIR
The majority of Château Latour's vineyard is located on gravelly hilltops that overlook the Gironde estuary from 12 to 16 meters. The fortunate combination of "Gironde, layers of gravel on the surface and clay in depth" gives the terroir of Château Latour a singularity that few sites can boast.
The 2010 vintage is composed of 90% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot.
SERVICE
Château Latour is served at a temperature of 15°C, in a red wine glass of the "Bordeaux" type. The ideal quantity is 15 cl. To control the temperature of the wine you can use a wine thermometer. Simply plunge it into a glass filled to 1/3 of the wine to be served.
FOOD AND WINE PAIRING
Château Latour can be served with aperitifs, starters, main courses or cheeses. It will accompany for example a nice piece of grilled beef but also mushrooms such as pancakes or truffled starters. For the cheese, prefer a cheese of character to counterbalance the tense perfumes of the nectar.
