Château Léoville Las Cases 1998
Saint-Julien - 2nd Grand Cru Rated
94/100 Parker
Drink now or cellar until 2041.
Tasted by Lisa Perrotti-Brown on March 4, 2021: "The 1998 Leoville Las Cases is a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 9% Cabernet Franc. Deep garnet with a touch of brick, it offers pronounced, beautifully pure flavors of creme de cassis, blackberry jam, and prunes, with hints of cigar box, licorice, pencil lead, and hoisin, as well as a touch of espresso. The palate is impressively rich and deep, coating the mouth with velvety tannins and just enough freshness, ending with a long, spicy finish. Still very young, this wine is in a privileged position where it is very evolving yet very fruity. Drink now and for the next 20 years."
