Château Léoville Poyferré 1985
Saint-Julien - 2ème Grand Cru Classé
92/100 Parker
By: “William Kelley”: An underrated wine, the 1985 Léoville Poyferré opens to the glass with magnificent aromas of ripe red fruits, cedar, damp earth, cocoa beans and subtle hints of licorice. Medium-bodied, velvety and perfectly harmonious, it is distinguished by its liveliness and richness of flavor, with melted tannins, fresh acidity and a long, penetrating finish. Less fleshy than the generous 1982 vintage, and without the richness or power of the 1989 or 1990 vintages, it nevertheless remains a superb achievement, marked by refined elegance.
Drink now, until 2030.
