If the ownership of Carmes Haut-Brion was historically "outside the walls", it is now surrounded by the city. It is an urban estate in its own right, the only one today to have an address in the capital of Aquitaine: 20, rue des Carmes in Bordeaux. This situation is not without consequence since it implies a milder climate that is conducive to a better ripening of the vine. The landscaped park and the presence of water, thanks to the stream of Peugue that runs through the property, maintain a rich ecosystem that contributes greatly to the preservation of the vines.
