Tasted by Yohan Castaing in 2023: "The remarkable Les Carmes Haut-Brion 2022 is a serious candidate for the title of wine of the vintage. It is also one of the most singular and distinctive wines produced in the region today. It bursts from the glass with complex aromas of blackberry and cherry mixed with hints of exotic spices, orange zest, pencil lead, rose petals and vine smoke. Medium to full-bodied, deep and concentrated, with a velvety attack that evolves into a layered, seamless, multi-dimensional mid-palate framed by rich, powdery tannins. Pure, fragrant and penetrating, this blend of 40% Cabernet Franc, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26% Merlot is a brilliant success that crowns a decade of hard work by Guillaume Pouthier and his team, who have enabled Les Carmes Haut-Brion to emerge as one of the leading estates in Bordeaux."
