Cabernet Franc 2018 - Clau de Nell
Anne Claude LEFLAIVE
93+/100 Parker
Cellaring: 2025 - 2045
By Stephan Reinhardt on October 14, 2021 : "The 2018 Cabernet Franc Anjou is sourced from red sandstone and flint soils and opens with a deep, intense, concentrated aroma of dark berries and cherries intermixed with iodine and some plum notes with hints of crystal sugar and cooked blueberry flavors. Silky, rich and intense on the palate, this is an elegant, deep, refined, long and complex Cab Franc with a tight tannic structure, and kumquat and somewhat noisy aromas. The wine has great ageing potential, but is very individual, with dense fruit but ripe and elegant tannins. Tasted at the estate in June 2021."
- Cabernet franc, the emblematic grape variety of the Loire, which occupies 5 hectares of the estate. A grape variety of character but also of great elegance! In any case, this is the direction in which the winemakers are heading. Healthy and well-balanced grapes, concentrated and vinified with finesse to tend towards delicacy and elegance.
- Tasting: From red fruit to cooked fruit, black fruit, spices and a floral bouquet, this is a wine of great complexity that invites you to indulge.
A velvety texture with silky tannins.
- Pairings: Duck breast; semi-cooked tuna; buttered vegetables; pan-fried chestnuts, chanterelles or quinoa.
- Serve at 16°C, do not hesitate to decant.
