Beaune Blanc 2017 - Louis jadot
Great Bourgogne estate - Domaine Gagey
GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION
The Beaune vineyard, located between Savigny les Beaune to the north and Pommard to the south, is the most extensive in the Côte de Beaune. There are no Grands Crus in this commune, but 36 Premiers Crus.
CHARACTERISTICS
There are few Beaune Blancs; our wine comes from two parcels that we follow in cultivation, one at the place called Bressandes (below the 1er cru) on the hillside, the other a closed area at the entrance of the town at the an of the hillside, deeper ground near an old tannery, that is to say near a spring. The wine is quite full-bodied but not heavy, it ages well.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
The harvest is done by hand in small crates in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then gently pressed and fermented in the barrels of our cooperage of which a third are new. The wine is aged for about 15 months on its lees before being prepared for bottling.

- By William Kelley in 2020 : "The 2017 Beaune Blanc (Domaine Gagey) has aromas of yellow orchard fruit, pear, marzipan and fresh pastry. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with a core of ripe fruit, lively acids and a chalky grip on the finish. While it's already showing well, it will be better with some bottle age."
- Serving: 12-14 °C
