Beaune Grèves 1er cru 2018 - Louis jadot
Great Bourgogne estate - Domaine Gagey
92+/100 Parker
Tasted by William Kelley in 2021 - “The 2018 Beaune 1er Cru Grèves (Domaine Gagey) presents well in bottle, offering aromas of red cherry, pomegranate, plum and wood smoke. Quite full-bodied, bright and vibrant, with powdery but youthful and assertive structuring tannins and a lovely depth to the core, this is one of the freshest and most classically balanced 2018s in the range this year, with bright fruit tones and brilliant acids, and it's a lovely prospect for the cellar.”

GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION
The vineyard of Beaune, located between Savigny les Beaune in the North and Pommard in the South, is the most extensive of the Côte de Beaune. There are no Grands Crus in this commune, but 36 Premiers Crus.
CHARACTERISTICS
The vineyard of Beaune is almost totally situated on the slope, and therefore benefits from a large classification of its climates as "Premiers Crus" of which "Les Grèves" is one. The soil is light and stony, hence its name.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
The grapes, characterized by very black berries, are destemmed and vinified in open vats for about 4 weeks, thus fully revealing all the subtlety of this terroir. After devatting, the wines are put into oak barrels in our cellars and matured for 18 months.
