Order wine : Corton Pougets Grand Cru 2014 in Magnum - Louis Jadot
Grande Maison de Bourgogne
93/100 Wine Spectator
When to drink this wine : 2017 - 2032
Tasting note by Neal Martin: "The 2014 Corton Pougets Grand Cru has a slight marine influence on the nose, which clashes with redcurrant and cranberry fruit, with a touch of red plum in the background. The palate is supple and light, the oak well integrated, quite mineral with good density and grip on the finish. It may lack a little persistence, but it should age with style."
GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION
The " Corton " are grand crus from the commune of Aloxe Corton - North of the Côte de Beaune - and are located on the famous " Rognon de Corton ". More than half of the surface of the vineyard of Aloxe Corton is planted in Grand Cru, which is exceptional in Burgundy. The exposure varies between South and South West.
CHARACTERISTICS
The "Pougets" vineyard is located in an original place on the Corton rock, on the place of origin of the Corton Charlemagne. It is oriented East-South, thus benefiting from maximum sunshine. It comes from the estate of the Louis Jadot heirs (1.54 hectares). The soil is brown limestone with scree slopes. The subsoil is mainly marl and limestone.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates in order to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then carefully sorted by hand and destemmed. Maceration of the grapes takes place in open wooden or stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. The vats are pumped over twice a day during the fermentation. The wine is aged for about 18 months in barrels from our cooperage, of which about a third are new.
