(90 - 92)/100 Parker
When to drink this wine : 2020 - 2035
Tasted by Neal Martin in 2017: "The 2016 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru la Petite Chapelle has a floral, well-defined bouquet with fragrant red cherry and strawberry fruit, crushed rose petals and a touch of vanilla. The palate is quite powerful with fine tannins, quite cohesive and concentrated with a fine bead of acidity and a taut, slightly tinctorial finish that will disappear by bottling. It deserves to be studied."

GEOGRAPHICAL SITUATION
Gevrey Chambertin is a commune located in the north of the Côte de Nuits. It has 26 premiers crus and 8 grands crus. Half of the premiers crus surround the grands crus (towards Morey), the other half is to the north towards the combe de Lavaux, with limestone and clay soils.
CHARACTERISTICS
The Premier Cru Petite Chapelle is located just below the Grand Cru Chapelle-Chambertin, south of the village of Gevrey. It has an eastern exposure and the soil is very stony and well drained. It produces an elegant and silky wine.
VINIFICATION AND MATURING
Harvesting is done manually in small crates in order to preserve the the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then carefully sorted carefully by hand and then destemmed. The maceration of the grapes takes place in open wooden or stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. The vats are pumped over 2 times a day during fermentation. The ageing lasts 18 months in oak barrels.
