Tasted by Neal Martin in 2015: " The 2014 Nuits Saint Georges 1er Cru les Vaucrains has an elegant bouquet with bubbling scents of red cherry, strawberry and cold stone that are beautifully defined. The palate is ripe and sensual on entry with a lively line of acidity. The tannins really express the auspicious nature of the Vaucrains, imparting impressive detail and precision on the long, sustained finish. Superb!"

CHARACTERISTICS
Above Grand Saint Georges is a very marked climate. The soils of the Premiers Crus are mainly composed of limestone and marl, and their perfect exposure to the East allows the production of superb wines.
VINIFICATION AND MATURATION
The grapes are harvested by hand in small crates to preserve the integrity of the fruit. The grapes are then carefully sorted by hand and destemmed. Maceration of the grapes takes place in open wooden or stainless steel vats for 3 to 4 weeks. The vats are pumped over twice a day during fermentation. The wine is aged for approximately 18 months in barrels from our cooperage, about one third of which are new.
