94/100 James Suckling
Tasted on 20 August 2020 - ""Beautiful purity of fruit with crushed berries, dried lemons, mushrooms and hints of cedar. Full-bodied with soft tannins. Savoury and subtly fruity at the same time. Drink after 2022.
The first written mention of the vineyard was in the registers of the Chapter of Saulieu in 1375. This vineyard has a long history with the Latour family, since it was already owned by Anne Michelin, the great-great-grandmother of Louis-Fabrice Latour's father, at the beginning of the 19th century. It has since been inherited by successive generations of Latours. On the hillside of Corton, this vineyard faces due south at the base of the slope, on an outcrop of bedrock. It is on this marl-rich soil, which is very russet in colour, that the wines develop their distinctive aromas. This wine has the elegance expected of a Côte d'Or Grand Cru.
