The estate

Château Malescot-St-Exupéry, 3ème Cru Classé of Margaux, traces its history back to the 18th century. In 1955, Malescot-St-Exupéry was bought by the Zuger family, who invested heavily in the estate. It is now one of the best maintained and most qualitative of the wines of the AOC Margaux. It is now managed by Jean-Luc Zuger. The cellars are located in the town of Margaux, while the vineyard now consists of five separate plots located in the commune of Margaux.

The wine

The wine of Malescot-St-Exupéry is a blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc and 5% Petit Verdot. It is aged in oak barrels, 80% of which are new, for 16 months and bottled without filtration. Malescot-St-Exupéry can be light and thin when young. But it is wine for laying down! And after 6-7 years in the cellar, it has a seductive perfume, a harmonious and silky texture that few Margaux wines can match.
