The origins of Château Marquis d'Alesme date back to 1585. 31 years after the creation of the estate, they began planting vines and cultivating their vineyard. The name of the property, Marquis d'Alesme, comes from one of the first aristocratic families who previously owned the estate.
The Château Marquis d'Alesme changed hands during the French Revolution. In 1809, the château was sold to a Dutch wine merchant, Jean Bekker Terrlink, who changed the name of the property to include his middle name, and the château Marquis d'Alesme Becker was born. The Château has been owned by the Perrodo family since 2006.
The 15-hectare vineyard on the left bank of the Château Marquis d'Alesme is divided into 3 unique terroirs and soils. They have part of the vineyard with silica and gravel soils where their different grape varieties are planted:
This blend shows a significant increase in the quantity of Cabernet Sauvignon and new Cabernet Franc plantations. There is a plot located next to the château which consists of siliceous and gravelly soil and a little clay in the terroir which is planted with 100% Merlot.
The third part of the vineyard consists mainly of young vines, which are the source of their second wine, La Marquise d'Alesme.
On average, the vines are maintained at 40 years of age. Today, the Château Marquis d'Alesme focuses on the use of self-sufficient vineyard management techniques. To produce the wine of Château Marquis d'Alesme, the vinification is carried out in a combination of traditional temperature-controlled oak vats and concrete vats.
The wine of Château Marquis d'Alesme is aged in 60% new French oak barrels for an average of 18 months. During the first three months of maturing, the wine is aged on fine lees.

With a willingness to spare no effort, including the construction of a new fermentation cellar equipped with state-of-the-art stainless steel vats and new French oak vats.
