What are the specificities of Château Marquis de Terme?
Château Marquis de Terme belongs to the Sénéclauze family. It is classified as a 4ème Cru Classé in the 1855 Bordeaux wine classification. 35 hectares of vines produce an average of 13,000 cases per year. Situated in the centre of the Margaux appellation, the property shares a climate similar to that of the Médoc: maritime, with the Gironde estuary and the Bay of Biscay acting as a climate regulator and the coastal pine forests that shelter the vines from the west and north-west winds. The vineyards (Cabernet Sauvignon 55%; Merlot 35%; Cabernet Franc 3%; Petit Verdot 7%) are located on gravelly clay soils. The vinification includes an ageing of the wood for about 18 months, 40% of which is new.
Château Marquis de Terme can be enjoyed on the young side with decanting. But you'd better give the wine some time to develop. Younger vintages can be decanted on average about 1 to 3 hours. This allows the wine to soften and open up its fragrance. Older vintages may require very little decanting, just enough to remove sediment.
Château Marquis de Terme is generally preferable with at least 7 to 9 years of bottle age. Of course, this can vary slightly depending on the vintage character. Château Marquis de Terme offers its best vintages and should reach its maximum maturity between 10 and 18 years after the vintage.
