Maury 40 ans d'âge - Mas Amiel
Vin Doux Naturel
95/100 Parker
Conservation : 2019 - 2030
By Joe Czerwinski in 2019 : "The latest release of the NV Maury 40 Ans features high-toned, walnut-like aromas and notes of maple syrup. Yet it's surprisingly drinkable, being only medium to full-bodied, with moderate sugar levels and hints of mocha and ripe citrus on the long, long finish."
TERROIR
Decomposed schist and black marl, facing south.
VINEYARDS
90 % Grenache noir - 5% maccabeu - 5% carignan.
VINIFICATION
Hand picked. Destemmed harvest. Maturation on the grapes followed by followed by a 30-day maceration to extract the aroma and polyphenols (aroma, polyphenols) contained in the berries and to obtain a beautiful structure balanced between fruit, alcohol and sugar.
MATURING
Aged for one year in glass bottles placed outside, then in 350 hl oak tuns. This particularly long ageing process, a true signature of Mas Amiel, allows the wine to acquire a great maturity of aromas and structure.
TASTING
A bewitching wine. Its colour becomes lighter. It reminds us of tobacco leaf, praline, coffee liqueur and roasted almonds. Then everything switches to an old orange liqueur to take us on a journey to the Orient in the world of spices. A lively wine with a dazzling freshness. A bluffing finish with a soft structuring bitterness.
