Ladoix Blanc 2018 - Méo Camuzet
Méo-Camuzet Frères et Sœurs from the estate
- 90/100 Parker
- Cellaring potential : 2020 - 2030
- Tasted by William Kelley in 2020: "From the Gréchons lieu-dit but not entitled to premier cru designation, Méo-Camuzet's 2018 Ladoix offers aromas of lemon oil, lime zest, crushed mint and wet stones. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, chalky and phenolic, with an incisive, mouthwatering profile even in this warm vintage."
- Méo Camuzet's 2018 vintage: It proved brilliant, delivering exquisitely balanced wines that are remarkably expressive, even demonstrative. The wines have quite a bit of ageing overall, and they can often be a bit structural and introverted in the fall following the vintage, but these 2018s are simply singing. Méo began his harvest on August 29, and like a number of his peers, he observes that his parcels didn't necessarily ripen in the usual order in 2018, with his Corton holdings in particular accumulating sugar very quickly. But careful attention to harvest date has allowed most of the winery's wines to be around 13.5% alcohol this year, with only a few reaching 14%. Beautifully balanced and structurally refined, the Méo-Camuzet wines will have a very long life this year and are highly recommended.
