Vosne Romanée 1er cru Les Chaumes - Méo Camuzet
Méo-Camuzet Frères et Sœurs from the estate
FIND OUT MORE ABOUT THIS CUVÉE :
- Tasting notes: A great deal of finesse and elegance in this wine, which is very typical of the Vosne Romanée appellation. The fullness and charm are there for a wine that does not impose like the super premiers crus of Brulées and Cros Parantoux, but which is easy to approach and quickly wins you over. The bottle does not last long on the table.
- Laying down: Solid vintages keep well, but when young, this wine is at its best: its finesse makes it ideal for early drinking. As it ages, the charm is still there, but there's nothing old-fashioned about it.
- Ageing: Ageing in cask depends a great deal on the vintage, but in general this is a wine that can be "guessed at" fairly quickly and which gives a quick idea of the general character of a year.
- Vinification: The finesse is there and the vinification has to be a little more extractive to push the wine to its limits. This means more punching down of the cap and slightly higher vatting temperatures. However, in years of low yields, which are quite common, there is nothing special to be done.
- Vines: The vines were planted in quite different years: one in the late 50s, the other in the early 70s. The oldest part is almost the most productive and produces fairly large, cylindrical grapes. The sugar/acid balance is excellent.
