Mercurey 1er Cru Blanc 2017 La Mission - Château de Chamirey
MONOPOLE
TERROIR
The Mission is a monopoly plot. The oldest vines were planted in 1961 and the youngest in 1997.
Total surface area: 1.9240 hectares.
Climate & Soil: East facing on a rocky and limestone terrace just above the Premier Cru "Clos du Roi".
WINEMAKING
For quality reasons, the grapes are hand-picked. Then the harvest is sorted and pressed whole. The juice is settled after pressing for 12 to 24 hours at controlled temperature. The alcoholic and malolactic fermentations are carried out in oak barrels. After fermentation, the ageing process is completed after 12 to 14 months.
TASTING NOTES
Beautiful gold dress with green reflections. On the nose, the wine develops notes of lime, yellow fruits, citrus fruits, vanilla and brioche. Discreet note of caramel. The nose is complex and spicy. Beautiful woody mouth, very nice length and persistence.
GASTRONOMY
The Mercurey Premier Cru La Mission - Monopole 2015 will go wonderfully well with a risotto with scallops, mushrooms, but also with fruity hard cheeses such as "Comté" or "tomme de fleurs".
GARDE
To be enjoyed now at an ideal temperature of 12-14°C or to keep for 3 to 8 years.
THE ART OF TASTING
It is too often forgotten that it is not enough to have good wines in your cellar, but that you must also know how to serve them. The temperature is an essential element, about 12° for the whites and 15° for the reds, and without a good tasting glass that will amplify the wine's aromas, one is sure to diminish its pleasure. A good glass gives the wine a large airing surface and a tightening of the neck, which allows the nose to better grasp the richness and complexity of the great wine.
