Domaine Mongeard Mugneret

Located on the south-east facing mid-slope in the village of Vosne-Romanée, the Domaine Mongeard Mugneret covers some thirty hectares spread over 35 different appellations. The vineyard benefits from a clay-limestone terroir and its annual production is around 120,000 bottles.

What are the specificities of Domaine Mongeard Mugneret?

Vincent Mongeard, the owner, makes it a point of honour to maintain and embellish the family heritage. A family tradition since 1620, each Mongeard generation has worked for the success of the estate's wines. Renowned for its high quality, the estate counts its plots of land in Grands Crus such as Echezeaux, le Grand Echezeaux, Clos de Vougeot, as well as in Premiers Crus such as Vougeot Les Cras, Vosnes Romanée 1er Cru Les Suchots, Les Ormeaux or les petits Monts . The Grands Crus are rather racy, elegant, with a strong character. Moreover, the Premiers Crus, which are highly prized, remain more subtle, finer and remarkably delicate.

Producing from a single grape variety, the estate produces a white wine from the Chardonnay grape variety and essentially produces a red wine from the Pinot Noir grape variety.

The vines, which are on average 40 years old, are harvested by hand to obtain a very precise wine. After traditional vinification, the estate's wine is aged in oak barrels for 18 to 22 months before bottling. Bottling is carried out without filtering. The wines of Domaine Mongeard Mugneret have to be waited for. Indeed, they are more appreciable after ageing in the cellar.
