Order wine : Château Montrose 1921
Saint-Estèphe -2ème Grand Cru Classé
98/100 Parker
When to drink this wine Estimated peak (1951 - 2035). A mature wine that can be drunk now.
Tasted by William Kelley in 2023: “One of my favorite old vintages for this estate. The Montrose 1921 is a remarkable wine that improved even more after several hours of aeration. It reveals itself in the glass with aromas of sweet dark berries, vanilla bean, sweet spices and espresso roast. It's quite full-bodied, broad and muscular, concentrated and framed by soft, but not entirely melted, tannins. Some bottles can flirt with perfection, but a touch of volatile acidity in this example depressed my score a bit, though it tended to integrate over time in the glass.”
