Tasting by William Kelley: “The 2005 Montrose continues to shine, unfolding in the glass with notes of cassis, red fruits, loamy soil, black truffles and cigar ash. Full-bodied, deep and concentrated, it's still full-bodied and tannic, with lively acids and an imposing chassis of structuring, artery-cleansing extracts. Still a teenager, this is one of Montrose's last unrepentant vintages, and Médoc purists won't be able to get their hands on it. Although this wine is still very young, it is now obvious that the 2005, when mature, will surpass the 1989 and 1990.”
