The Domaine de La Mordorée

Created in 1986 by the Delorme family, passionate about wine, the Domaine de la Mordorée is located in Tavel, near Avignon. Admittedly a recent wine estate in the Rhône, but which has easily caught up with the larger areas. How can we prove this? Quite simply, the great oenologist Robert Parker considers the Domaine de la Mordorée to be one of the 155 best wine estates in the world. Its main appellation is the great Châteauneuf-du-Pâpe, but we can also find Condrieu, Tavel, or Lirac. The Domaine de la Mordorée produces 200,000 bottles each year. It is one of the great masters of the Lirac appellation, thanks to a quality of wine that is still unequalled. Christophe Delorme is particularly known for the production of the "Reine des Bois" cuvée, very well-balanced, harmonious and deep wines.

La Mordorée, cuvées and vinifications

The Domaine de La Mordorée has nearly 60 hectares of vines spread over 38 plots. The 3-hectare parcel of Châteauneuf-du-Pape was acquired in 1989 and is the origin of the estate's first wine, the Cuvée de la Reine des Bois. This wine is made only when the vintage is judged sufficient. The Domaine de la Mordorée produces a range of other red, white and rosé wines from the southern Rhône.

In the cellar, the Domaine de la Mordorée uses traditional and modern winemaking techniques. The grapes are de-stemmed on arrival at the cellar and fermented in stainless steel. The wines are matured in new French oak and stainless steel vats before being released for sale.
