Morgon 2019 Corcelette - Jean Foillard
Keeping potential: now to 2040
Tasting notes : Aromas of cherries and strawberries mingle with liquorice and spices. It is fleshy and greedy, with ripe acids and a generous fruit core. It is a great wine.
The estate : It is one of the best addresses in the Beaujolais. Today, Foillard remains faithful to this approach: its Morgon cuvées undergo a maceration of about three weeks in vats before being gently pressed and matured in used Burgundy barrels. Chaptalisation is avoided. He also gives his wines a little bottle age before they are put on sale. Despite his identification with the natural wine movement, Foillard does not tolerate careless winemaking practices or faulty wines, and his bottles are typically models of aromatic purity and graceful ageing.
