Château Mouton Rothschild 2015
Pauillac - Premier Grand Cru Rated
99/100 James Suckling & 98/100 Parker
Cellaring : 2025 - 2055
Tasted by Lisa Perrotti-Brown in 2018(Parker team) : "The 2015 Mouton Rothschild is a blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc aged in 100% new oak and bottled in mid-July 2017. Deep garnet-purple in color, this Mouton makes an incredibly punchy entrance, emerging from the glass with deep notes of blackberry jam, plum pudding, creme de cassis, and grilled meats, with perfectly accessorized accents of sandalwood, cinnamon stick, and fenugreek, with hints of dried roses, unsmoked cigars, and plowed earth. The medium to full-bodied palate is filled with rich, ripe black fruits with blue and red fruit nuances and an incredible structure of very firm, ripe tannins, with seamless freshness and an epic long, earthy finish. With striking natural beauty framed by impeccable craftsmanship, this 2015 is a true diva that deserves all the attention. Give it at least 7-8 years in bottle and drink it over the next 30 years."
ART AND LABEL
The illustration of the 2015 vintage was entrusted to German artist Gerhard Richter, born in 1932, a prodigious inventor of forms and pictorial techniques. Famous throughout the world, he bases his work on the dialectical relationship between painting and photography, between figuration and abstraction. His work for Mouton is the result of a random and elaborate process that he calls Flux. The artist fixes on photo colors in movement, seized at the ideal moment of their composition: in the same way, a harmonious assembly gives to the great wine, living matter, its balance and its plenitude.
