The Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier in Chambolle-Musigny was set up by Frédéric Mugnier, a liquor maker from Dijon, in 1863. In 1902, after the purchase of Clos de la Maréchale in Nuits-Saint-Georges, the estate comprises more than twenty hectares of vines. In difficulty in the immediate post-war period, Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier, great-grandson of Frédéric Mugnier, sold the liqueur factory in 1950, at the same time as he leased the vineyard. He finally took over part of the vineyard in 1978. Today under the control of his son Frédéric, the Domaine Jacques Frédéric Mugnier, whose wines have acquired a solid reputation, has been able to count on the return to the Clos de la Maréchale vineyard.
