For nearly five centuries, the Philipponnat family has left its mark on the Champagne region of Ay, the cradle of the family since 1522.

Philipponnat's savoir-faire is expressed in particular in the use of the solera process, which consists of keeping the reserve wines in oak barrels and including them into the blend of non-vintage wines in the proportion of one quarter to one third, then using this same blend as a reserve wine of the next blend.

Philipponnat was the first House to systematically specify on its back labels the main year used in the composition of its non-vintage wines, the dosage and the date of disgorgement, thus communicating to its consumers the identity of each cuvée.
