Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 1964
Pauillac - Second Grand Cru Rated
Tasting notes by Parker: The 1964 Pichon Comtesse de Lalande is delicious, with a seductive bouquet of blackcurrant and herbs. It is earthy and spicy, almost reminiscent of Graves. On the palate, the wine has sweet, nicely endowed, ripe flavours that have reached full maturity. Cellaring: Drink now.
Château Pichon Lalande vineyard: The large 100 hectare vineyard of Château Pichon Lalande has set itself the target of being planted to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. This shows a marked and continuing increase in Cabernet Sauvignon, which has been maintained at 45% for decades, and a decrease in Cabernet Franc, as well as Petit Verdot and obviously Merlot in the vineyard, which was previously planted to 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot.
