Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande 2000
Pauillac - Second Grand Cru Rated
96/100 Parker
Cellaring: 2020 - 2050
By Robert M. Parker in 2010: "Sitting next to my former colleague, Pierre Antoine Rovani, at one of the tastings, he remarked that he did not like the striking green note in the aromas of this wine, which I did not detect at all, and a subsequent bottle at another tasting did not reveal it either. I think there's a hint of bay leaf and a meaty edge. In short, I think this is a spectacular Pichon Lalande. Dense purple in color, with notes of coffee, mocha, creme de cassis, and chocolate, it is a somewhat unusual blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and 10% Petit Verdot, with some Cabernet Franc. The petit verdot gives the wine a floral tapenade note, which may be interpreted by some as grass. This is a rich, opulent, stunning Pichon Lalande that is beginning to drink beautifully, but should continue to improve for at least another 10-15 years and last for 30 or more.
