Opinion : "The 2016 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande, one of the greatest wines produced by this estate in the modern era, is a brilliant classic that no Bordeaux lover will want to be without. Blending blackcurrant and plum aromas with notions of liquorice, sweet tobacco leaf, rich earth, liquorice, cigar smoke and violet nuances, it is full-bodied, seamless and complete, with huge concentration, bright acids and a long, penetrating finish. It stands out for its unerring precision, impeccable balance and ineffable sense of completeness, and should prove almost immortal."
Château Pichon Lalande vineyard: The large 100 hectare vineyard of Château Pichon Lalande has set itself the target of being planted to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and 3% Petit Verdot. This shows a marked and continuing increase in Cabernet Sauvignon, which has been maintained at 45% for decades, and a decrease in Cabernet Franc, as well as Petit Verdot and obviously Merlot in the vineyard, which was previously planted to 45% Cabernet Sauvignon, 35% Merlot, 12% Cabernet Franc and 8% Petit Verdot.
