What the estate says:
This cuvée comes from old Meunier vines located in the Ludes Premier Cru vineyard, specifically in the lieux-dits Les Hautes Perthes and Les Vigneulles de Devant, both planted in 1970. These plots are located to the east of the Montagne de Reims, not far from the prestigious Mailly-Champagne Grand Cru terroir, on predominantly limestone soils with very little clay.
A unique expression of Meunier grown on the northern slopes of the Montagne de Reims, this cuvée reveals beautiful tension and radiant minerality, marked by saline nuances and a slight bitterness. The grape variety takes a back seat to better reveal the purity and finesse of the chalky terroir.
Vinification was carried out in barrels, with a secondary fermentation on cork, followed by aging on lees for four and a half years before disgorging.
Dosage: 2 g/l
"This cuvée comes from the eastern zone, near the Mailly Grand Cru champagnes, where limestone soils are abundant. Two-thirds of the blend comes from the Hautes Perthes lieu-dit, the rest from the neighboring plot of Les Vigneulles de Devant, both planted in 1970.
The Meunier from these two plots is distinguished by its great precision, pronounced tension, and intense salinity, which enhances the ripe aromas of apricot, white peach, and nectarine." — Peter Liem
