Chateauneuf du Pape 2003 Cuvée de mon Aïeul in Magnum - Pierre Usseglio
Domaine Pierre Usseglio & Fils
98/100 Parker
Tasting by Jeb Dunnuck: “The best bottle I've had (and I've had a lot), Usseglio's Châteauneuf du Pape 2003 Cuvée de Mon Aieul is a blockbuster and one of the real stars of this vintage. Almost entirely Grenache (there's a small amount of Syrah and Cinsault), harvested between September 1st and 13th, partially destemmed and aged in vats and foudre, this massive, voluptuous wine is almost bursting with notes of ground herbs, chocolate-dusted meat, black fruits and licorice. Showing none of the negative traits of the vintage, with magnificent purity and freshness, soft tannins and an excellent finish.”
When to drink this wine : At maturity, can be drunk now.
