Beaune 1er Cru Boucherottes 2016 - Louis jadot
Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot
92/100 Parker
Cellaring : Drink now or cellar until 2036.
Tasting note by William Kelley in 2019: "The 2016 Beaune 1er Cru Les Boucherottes (Domaine des Héritiers Jadot) bursts from the glass with a lovely bouquet of blackberries, dark chocolate, candied bark and red currant leaf. On the palate, it's fleshy but incisive, with a core of sumptuous, mouthwatering fruit that's checked by acidic acids and fine-grained, structuring tannins, ending with a precise, mouthwatering finish. This is a lovely Beaune that will offer a wide range of tasting possibilities."
- SITUATION : The vineyard of Beaune is the most extensive of the Côte de Beaune, between Savigny to the north, and Pommard to the south. There are no Grands Crus in this commune, but 42 Premiers Crus.
- VINEYARD INFORMATION: The vineyard "Les Boucherottes" is located at the southern end of the commune, partially bordering Pommard. It is superbly situated just below "Les Chouacheux" and "Les Vignes Franches" and between "Clos des Mouches" and "Les Epenottes" on the lower part of the hillside. Les Boucherottes" covers a little more than 20 hectares. In the "Boucherottes", the deep clay soil brings a lush quality to the wine.
- VINIFICATION AND MATURATION : The grapes bear small dark red berries. The grapes are destemmed and macerate in open vats for 4 weeks allowing this subtle terroir to reveal itself. After devatting, the wines are aged in oak barrels for 18 months.
