Description : Located halfway between Dijon and Beaune, Nuits-Saint-Georges gave its name to the Côte de Nuits. "Les Damodes" is located in the northern part of the Nuits-Saint-Georges appellation, just south of the Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru appellation. The climate "Les Damodes" is said to be a compound of "Dame". The legend evokes fairies who would have frequented the rocky heights at this place. More likely, it would be the presence of rocks that could be confused with ladies in long dresses, "high" ladies whose pronunciation has derived to "damaudes" then "damodes" that would have given its name to this parcel. On a shallow limestone soil, the vines are exposed to the east. Elegance and delicacy characterize this wine.
