Pommard 2017 - Blain Gagnard
Domaine Blain Gagnard
-
In summary: Cherry, earth and spice flavors. Opens a little in the glass, so be patient. Firm and mellow. Best consumed between 2021 and 2030.
-
The appellation : Pommard comes from two climates of village level which are on the Volnay side of the village: La Croix Planet and Les Combes Dessous. The average age of the vines is 35 to 45 years. The wine is aged for 18 months in used Burgundy rooms.
-
Tasting notes: Pommard is a wine of fullness and robustness, especially when compared to the fine and fragrant wines found in the neighboring village of Volnay. This Pommard has the typical density of old vines but with nice aromas of flowers and herbs thanks to the proximity of the vineyards of Volnay.
-
Food/wine pairing: Red Burgundy is perhaps the most supple cooking wine in the world. Its high acidity, medium body, average alcohol content and low tannins make it very pleasant to drink. Red Burgundy, with its earthy and sometimes gamey character, is a classic partner for roasted game birds, grilled duck breasts and dishes based on mushrooms, black truffles or rich in umami.
