Volnay 1er Cru Frémiets 2019 - Faiveley
THE MILLENNIUM
2019 is a fresh and balanced vintage. The volumes are low but the quality is exceptional. Characterized by extreme weather and healthy, fragrant grapes, 2019 was marked by low rainfall (-50% compared to normal), several episodes of frost in April/May and the summer heat wave. Harvesting began on Monday, September 9 in Côte Chalonnaise and ended on September 21 in Côte de Nuits.

VINIFICATION & MATURING
The grapes are cut and sorted by hand. The proportion of destemming varies according to each vintage. The grapes are punched down daily to extract their color, tannins and aromas from the skins. After 19 days of vatting, the alcoholic fermentation is completed. The free-run wine is drained by gravity while a slow and gentle pressing of the marc allows to obtain a press wine of great purity. For 14 months, our wines are aged in French oak barrels (one third of which are new) in our cellars with a natural and constant hygrometry and temperature. These barrels are selected for the fineness of their grain and their moderate toasting.
TASTING
Volnay is renowned for the elegance of its red wines. This one exhales aromas of small red and black fruits associated with spices and a delicate woodiness. These greedy flavors are enveloped by fine tannins that offer a velvet caress to the palate.
Pairings : Braised veal grenadins, roasted partridge, turkey with chestnuts
Temperature : 14°C to 16°C
Aging potential : 6 to 10 years
