Cellaring: 2020 - 2035
Tasted on April 9, 2020 by Lisa Perrotti-Brown: "Deep garnet-colored, the 2009 Rauzan-Ségla bursts from the glass with bold, lively aromas of Black Forest cake, blackberry pie, and warm blueberries, as well as hints of cardamom, candied violets, smoked meat, and Chinese five-spice, with a hint of dusty earth. Full-bodied, rich, plush and decadent, it completely coats the palate with dense layers of preserved dark berry fruit, ending with a very long and spicy finish. This year's blend is 58% Cabernet Sauvignon and 42% Merlot, harvested between September 22 and October 11, with an average yield of 41 hectoliters per hectare. It was aged for 18 months in French oak, 50% of which was new wood. The alcohol content is 14%, and the pH is 3.69."
