This is the famous Domaine Niero, a superb property in the Rhône. Find all the best references of this prestigious estate on Comptoir des Millésimes. This is one of our partner estates, which means that their wines are shipped directly to our cellar following their bottling at their estate. The winemakers reserve an allocation of their cases of wine for us each year. So don't hesitate to create an email alert (in the section my Alerts ) on the Rémi and Robert Niero Estate in order to be informed first of the latest arrivals.
The young and dynamic winemaker Rémi Niero started working alongside his father in 2004 and is now at the head of the estate with his wife Krystel. They are the 3rd generation of the family estate and continue the tradition of the estate's refined and pure Viognier and Syrah wines by working in their cellars in Condrieu. The estate has recently converted to organic farming and the wines, like the estate, are refined and pure.
This is one of the first estates in the Condrieu appellation, centred on the oldest vineyard in the Coteau du Chéry, which, along with the Coteau du Vernon, is considered one of the best sites in the appellation.
Already existing 45 years ago, when the whole appellation had only 8 hectares of vines (it now has 160), under the name of Pinchon. The father, Robert, married Pinchon's daughter, so that today, after being Domaine Niero-Pinchon for a while, the name was shortened to simply Rémi Niero when Rémi took over the estate.
The Condrieu wines come from just over 4 hectares of vines, all located in the commune of Condrieu itself, in the Coteau de Chéry, La Roncharde, Côte Chatillon, La Caille, Vergelas and Corbéry parcels. The Condrieu is aged in vats (60%) and barrels (40%) for one year.
They come from two sites, La Viallière and Le Coteau de Bassenon, located at the southern end of the appellation, a total of nearly 2 hectares. They are aged for 16 months in barrels, 20% of which are new.
