Order wine Marsannay Le Clos White 2021 - René Bouvier
René Bouvier wine at the best price
Tasting and info:
The marl subsoil gives the Marsannay blanc “Le Clos” a distinctive power, while the different harvest dates add additional complexity. This vintage asserts its identity with a ripe substance, a beautiful viscosity enveloping the palate, and a marked minerality which structures the mouth, leaving a long salivation on the finish. Deep and subtle, this wine reveals fresh menthol notes, long pepper, acacia, pear, peaches, curry and even truffles.
Le Clos, a 3-hectare monopoly located south of the Marsannay appellation in the village of Couchey, behind the castle, is the property of the author. Facing due east, this slightly sloping terroir, composed mainly of marl with limestone areas, is home to vines with an average age of 40 years. The harvest takes place over several days, allowing a careful selection of the best grapes from the oldest vines of the Clos.
Viticulture:
The estate adopts an environmentally friendly approach by always working the soil and using vines from mass selections. Viticultural practices, such as disbudding, branch trellising, and post-flowering trimming, are carefully carried out to balance the load and ensure low yield. A sorting process is carried out 2 to 3 weeks before the harvest, and all plots on the estate are harvested by hand.
Winemaking:
After pressing the whole bunches, the two fermentations take place in barrels with native yeasts. The grapes are delicately pressed for 4 hours to extract the must. Fermentation takes place in 600 liter barrels, followed by aging for 12 months in barrels, then 6 months in vats. Bottling is carried out by reducing SO2 inputs, and bottling periods are chosen according to the lunar calendar.
