The style of Crozes-Hermitage wines of the year 2019 :
- Crozes-Hermitage red wines are elegant and fruity, although less powerful and complex than those produced in the neighbouring Hermitage appellation. They offer aromas of red and black fruit, often with hints of spice and pepper, characteristic of Syrah.
- The white wines of Crozes-Hermitage have a more floral style, with aromas of apricot and pear, combined with refreshing acidity.
Tasting advice :
- On the nose, Crozes-Hermitage often gives off intense, seductive aromas. You can detect notes of red and black fruit such as cherry, raspberry, blackberry and plum. These fruity aromas are often accompanied by spicy notes, such as black pepper, as well as subtle floral touches.
- On the palate, Crozes-Hermitage is generally a fairly full-bodied wine, with a fine tannic structure. The tannins can be velvety, especially when the wine has been aged in oak barrels. You'll experience a generous expression of fruit, with persistent flavours of black cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry, possibly enhanced by hints of liquorice and sweet spices.
- The finish of Crozes-Hermitage is often pleasant and of moderate length. The fruity and spicy aromas linger on the palate, leaving an impression of freshness and elegance. Some wines may also reveal a subtle mineral touch, characteristic of wines from the northern Rhône Valley.
