What is the style of a Gigondas from the 2021 year? 

Gigondas wines are often described as rich, fleshy and structured. They are generally fuller-bodied than wines produced in the neighbouring appellation of Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

   

Tasting notes: 

Gigondas wines can display a wide range of aromas, including ripe red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, black fruits such as blackberry and plum, spices such as black pepper and Provençal herbs, as well as notes of garrigue, liquorice and leather.

   

What temperature should I serve a Gigondas from the 2021 year?

To fully appreciate the characteristics of Gigondas wines, we recommend serving them at a temperature of between 16°C and 18°C.

   

Grape varieties :

Gigondas wines are generally made from two main grape varieties:

  • Grenache: This is often the predominant grape in the blend, providing roundness, red fruit and a certain warmth on the palate.
  • Syrah: This variety brings black fruit aromas, spicy notes and structure to the wine.
  • Other grape varieties can also be used in smaller proportions, such as Mourvèdre or Cinsault, to add complexity to the blend.
