Saint-Estèphe wines are characterised by their robust character and pronounced tannic structure. They are generally full-bodied, complex and have remarkable ageing potential. These wines are often considered more masculine than other Médoc appellations, reflecting the richness of the local terroir.
Saint-Estèphe wines offer a wide range of aromas that evolve with age. In general, when young, they offer aromas of black fruits such as blackberries, blackcurrants and plums, accompanied by notes of spices, cedar, tobacco and leather. As they age, these wines often develop more complex aromas, such as notes of truffle, undergrowth and more evolved nuances.
The ideal serving temperature for Saint-Estèphe wines is generally between 16°C and 18°C. This temperature range allows the wine's aromas and flavours to express themselves fully without the wine being too hot or too cold.
