TASTING
- Ageing potential: Drink from 2024 to 2035+.
- Barruol's Cote Rotie blends fruit from both ends of the appellation to create an exciting mix of violets and blueberries on the nose. It is rich, concentrated and silky, with a lingering, elegant finish. A great wine. I tasted these Northern Rhône wines with Louis Barruol in his cellars in Gigondas. It is important to note that these wines are bottled under the Saint Cosme négociant label - they are not chateau bottled wines. This does not mean that they are not excellent, as Barruol has sourced exceptional fruit from the north.
THE DOMAIN TELLS YOU ABOUT IT
- Characteristics : 100% Serine (old syrah). Whole grape harvest. Schists in the localities of Plomb, Viallière and Neve. Aged for twelve months: 50% in new barrels - 50% in barrels of one wine. Bottled without filtration.
- The winemaker tells you about it: "Apart from Gigondas, Côte-Rôtie is the terroir of the Rhone Valley that I prefer. Here, as in the most beautiful areas of Burgundy, the notion of terroir is exacerbated, powerful and obvious. The hillside made up of Viallière, Plomb and Neve is the one that fascinates me: it has the capacity to express finesse and complexity while showing "simplicity".
