Château Figeac 2018
Saint-Emilion - Premier Grand Cru Classé B
(97 - 99)/100 Parker
Garde: To drink after 5 years of keeping. Can be kept for decades.
By Lisa Perrotti-Brown in 2019: "The Figeac 2018 is composed of 37% Merlot, 33% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc, harvested from September 17 to October 12 with a pH of 3.7 and 14% alcohol. Deep purple-black in color, it gives off lively aromas of black and red cherries, blackcurrant, warm plums and wild blueberries, as well as fragrant notes of violet, star anise, ploughed soil and forest floor with hints of Ceylon tea and chocolate. Full-bodied and packed with crisp, energetic black and blue fruits, it has a rock-solid, firm and grainy structure and a host of bright, refreshing sparks that lift the dense layers of the very long, flavorful finish. The Cabernet is really making a name for itself in this vintage, and it is good. The signature of this wine is so clear, so defined, that it is an unparalleled Bordeaux wine. In my opinion, this is the best Figeac ever produced."
